Global Production of Solar Energy

Solar energy is an important and one of the most popular form of alternate energy. With primary non-renewable sources of energy (coal and oil) rapidly depleting, it is important for the world to at least prepare to transition to more sustainable alternatives. I want to find the global trends in solar energy, the factors that affect its usage and the overall share of renewable resources in global energy consumption.
